The Client

Government employer located in Cairns and is Australia's most northernly municipality, representing 15 unique island communities, spread across 42,000km2 of sea, and an international border with Papua New Guinea.

The Opportunity

A great opportunity (2 month contract) for an experienced Workplace Health and Safety Consultant whereby you will be auditing internal WHS policies and processes in addition to providing high level support to the health and safety team.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will require the following skills and experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in Workplace Health & Safety, with consultancy experience preferred.
  • Directly engaging with internal stakeholders to understand their unique WHS needs and challenges.
  • Creating tailored documentation, including policies, procedures, handbooks, safe work method statements, and action plans.
  • Conduct onsite visits to assess risk and provide tailored recommendations that drive positive change and improve organizational outcomes.
  • Review and analyze WHS management systems, using your expertise to identify areas for improvement and develop customized solutions that meet client needs.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, investigations, and assessments, including audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, to gain a deep understanding of WHS needs and facilitate effective solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety.
